My Quick Story
I grew up a few miles outside Glasgow, MT, a town of roughly 3,500 people in the North East of the state. My family runs a farm and ranch, which was a great summer job. As I learned more and worked on larger projects, I started to teach my younger brothers and other hired hands the skills needed for the trade. The last few years I spent my summers working there, I typically ran a crew of three to five people. It was my experience on the farm that cultivated my love of building things.
In high school, I participated in a few sports (swimming, basketball, and Track and Field) and really got into chess. My school didn’t have a chess club, so I taught myself and went to tournaments around the state. While I was certainly not that good compared to the competition, it was still a blast.
I also seriously pursued the guitar after I played with a local band and the local summer theater for a couple years. When I went to college at Montana State University, I originally double majored in Computer Science and Music Technology. I learned the art of the classical guitar and trained under Professor Videon. It was challenging and very rewarding. Throughout the year, I found that I enjoyed learning and working on computer science projects more and more. Working on projects outside of class was even more fun. Meanwhile, Music Technology proved to be very stressful and I prefered it more as a hobby. I switched to computer science as my full focus and am currently going through the Computer Science Master’s track.
